The 10-th anniversary “Russia’s LPG market” conference took place on 5-6 December in St.Petersburg. The regular event gathered over 200 participants from many Russian regions as well as from other CIS countries, Europe, US and Asia.

The interest to the conference, which is traditionally backed by Russia’s LPG leading marketing company- Gazenergoset St.Petersburg- is explained by professional well known speakers, high level of presentations and open and honest discussions covering the most vital industry issues.

An IHS expert provided a profound overview of LPG international market. Representatives of Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Georgia added to the global review of LPG markets around Russia. Manzhouli Far East Gases Co has used the floor to announce the launch of the company’s terminal designed to export LPG from Russia to China.

One of the focuses of the conference was LPG pricing issues, demand and supply, exchange trade. Officials from Russia’s Energy ministry, Spimex together with Russia’s leading LPG producer-Sibur, and other traders participated in an energetic discussion about basic principles of LPG price indicators. The head of Gazenergoset St.Petersburg revealed the details of the company is trading policy and outlined the 2020 strategy. One of the leading domestic traders-Petroleum Trading-has voted for the development of LPG futures market.

LPG trade opportunities in Russia’s Far East have become the conference’s highlight. A FGE analyst described LPG demand in Asia Pacific, while a Thomson Reuter expert provided an analysis of export routes and LPG sales possibilities in Russia’s Far East. A top manager of the fast growing company in the region- Irkutsk Oil – had to face a lot of question, given the interest of traders to the company’s business and its success there.

LPG use in petrochemical industry, as moto fuel and alternative fuel by population is traditionally considered at LPG conferences. Russia’s petrochemical leader- Sibur- told the audience about its LPG-based petrochemical projects. Vygon Consulting gave an analysis of Russia’s petrochemical industry and its prospects. Turkish Aygaz shared its experience in marketing and promoting LPG as moto fuel and fuel for municipal needs. Russia’s experts from different regions conveyed their concerns and problems regarding LPG use as moto fuel.
